Ryanair Flight Incident: Man Almost Sucked Out Over Aegean Sea
A Ryanair flight from London Stansted to Zadar, Croatia, was diverted to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport on Tuesday after a cabin window reportedly detached, nearly leading to a passenger being sucked out of the aircraft. The incident occurred at an altitude of 36,000 feet over the Aegean Sea.
Svetlana Grković, the wife of the passenger involved, recounted the terrifying ordeal to Serbian media, stating her husband was "seriously injured and in shock." She detailed how her husband's body was partially pulled out of the plane during the event, before other passengers and crew managed to pull him back inside.
Reports suggest the window, situated near an emergency exit, detached during the flight, creating a sudden and severe decompression. Passengers described a chaotic scene as oxygen masks deployed and the cabin crew initiated an emergency descent. The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800, landed safely in Frankfurt-Hahn approximately an hour after the incident.
Ryanair officials have confirmed an "operational incident" led to the diversion, citing a "pressurisation issue" and subsequent deployment of oxygen masks. The airline stated that the crew initiated a controlled descent and requested a priority landing. All passengers were subsequently transferred to another aircraft to continue their journey to Zadar. German authorities are understood to be investigating the precise cause of the window's failure.
