Salvage Operation Dismantles 24-Metre Guard Boat Wrecked Off Isle of Lewis Coast
A salvage operation has concluded with the full dismantling and removal of the 24-metre guard boat, the MV Kaami, from rocks off the Isle of Lewis. The vessel became stranded in December last year, believed to have drifted onto the rocks during rough seas.
Specialist teams worked to systematically break down the vessel, transporting its components from the remote coastal location. The operation was complex due to the boat's position and the challenging weather conditions often experienced in the area.
Authorities have confirmed that all sections of the wreckage have now been cleared from the site, restoring the coastline to its pre-incident state. The incident had initially raised concerns about potential environmental impact, which local agencies closely monitored throughout the salvage period.
