Selena Gomez Faces Fraud Allegations from Investors in Mental Health Enterprise
Actress and singer Selena Gomez is facing a lawsuit from investors in Wondermind, a mental health enterprise she co-founded. The plaintiffs allege Gomez did not fulfil her commitment to take an “active role” in the company, leading to claims of fraud.
The legal action states that Gomez, along with her mother Mandy Teefey and entrepreneur Daniella Pierson, launched Wondermind in 2022 with a focus on mental fitness. The company aimed to destigmatise mental health conversations through a newsletter, podcasts, and articles.
According to the lawsuit, Gomez’s promised hands-on participation was a primary factor for investors. Her public profile and stated dedication were reportedly crucial in attracting significant capital. However, the investors now claim that Gomez's involvement has been minimal, contrasting sharply with initial assurances.
Representatives for Gomez have not yet publicly commented on the allegations. This legal challenge underscores the scrutiny public figures face regarding their business ventures, particularly when their personal brand is central to attracting investment.
