City of London Corporation Leader Ian Thomas Named UK's Most Influential Black Briton

Ian Thomas, the Chief Executive Officer of the City of London Corporation, has secured the top position on the Powerlist 2024, an annual ranking of the UK's most influential Black individuals. The recognition highlights Thomas's leadership within the Square Mile, a crucial hub for global finance and business.

This year's Powerlist, now in its 21st edition, acknowledges the achievements of 100 individuals across diverse fields, including business, science, technology, politics, and the arts. The compilation aims to showcase positive role models and celebrate the impact of the Black community in Britain.

Thomas's appointment as CEO of the City of London Corporation in 2023 was a significant milestone, placing him at the helm of an institution with a long history. His ascent to the Powerlist's pinnacle underscores a continued shift in acknowledging Black leadership within established British institutions.

The Powerlist was founded by Michael Eboda, CEO of Powerful Media, to provide a counter-narrative to prevalent negative stereotypes and to inspire younger generations. Previous recipients of the top honour include prominent figures from various industries, reflecting the breadth of talent and influence recognised by the list annually.
