
Sturgeon, Gove Lead Fictional UK War Cabinet Against Russia in Sky TV Series
Former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will feature as Deputy Prime Minister alongside ex-Conservative minister Michael Gove, who takes the role of Prime Minister, in a four-part Sky TV series titled 'The Wargame'. The programme simulates a UK government responding to a fictional Russian attack on British soil.
The cross-party cabinet will conduct Cobra-style emergency meetings, with former Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy serving as Foreign Secretary. Other prominent figures include former Tory MP Dame Penny Mordaunt as Defence Secretary and Labour's Baroness Harriet Harman as Home Secretary. Retired General Sir Richard Barrons and former diplomat Lord Kim Darroch will also participate.
The announcement of Sturgeon's involvement has prompted scrutiny, following her estranged husband, Peter Murrell, admitting to embezzling over £400,000 from the Scottish National Party (SNP). Murrell, who was the SNP's chief executive for more than two decades, is due to be sentenced, having pleaded guilty to using party funds for personal purchases including vehicles and cosmetics.
