
Swadlincote: Man Arrested for Murder After 72-Year-Old Woman Found Stabbed at Linton Property
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 72-year-old woman in Swadlincote. The woman was found with stab wounds at a property on The Crest in Linton.
Derbyshire Police confirmed officers were called to the address shortly after 14:30 BST on Sunday. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 52-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder. The force stated the woman's family are receiving support from specialist officers.
Detective Inspector Tony Owen, leading the investigation for the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, indicated an increased police presence would remain in the area. He sought to reassure residents, stating the incident is believed to be isolated. Police are appealing for information, urging anyone with CCTV, doorbell, or dash cam footage covering The Crest between 00:01 on Saturday and 15:00 on Sunday to come forward.
