Trump Media Sells Truth Social Early Access to High-Frequency Traders for $100,000 Monthly
Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the parent company of Truth Social, has introduced a controversial new service known as the Truth Social API. This application programming interface provides select Wall Street firms with early, direct access to posts from the platform's most influential accounts. The cost for this expedited data feed is reported to be up to $100,000 per month.
The primary beneficiaries of this service are expected to be high-frequency traders. These firms utilise algorithms to execute trades within milliseconds, capitalising on public sentiment and news before it is widely disseminated. By receiving Truth Social data ahead of the general public, these traders can pre-empt market movements influenced by key figures on the platform, including former President Donald Trump.
Critics argue that this monetisation of early access creates an uneven playing field, allowing privileged financial entities to profit from information asymmetry. The practice raises questions about market fairness and the potential for insider advantage within financial markets, particularly as social media platforms increasingly influence stock valuations and trading volumes.
