Trump's Legal Team Confirms Withdrawal of 'Anti-Weaponisation' Fund Proposal
Todd Blanche, representing Donald Trump, has confirmed the permanent abandonment of a controversial fundraising initiative. The fund was designed to counter what Trump's campaign has characterised as the 'weaponisation' of the American justice system against him.
The formal withdrawal follows direct pressure from Republican Senators Mike Lee of Utah and J.D. Vance of Ohio. Both senators had explicitly demanded a written guarantee that the proposal would not be reintroduced, highlighting internal party unease regarding the perceived implications of such a fund.
Critics within and outside the Republican party had expressed significant reservations about the fund's potential to undermine judicial independence and further politicise legal proceedings. The proposal's removal signals a calculated effort by Trump's campaign to assuage these concerns and consolidate support, particularly from influential figures who had previously voiced opposition.
