Two Hospitalised After Bus Plunges Down Embankment on A9 in Scottish Highlands
An electric bus carrying passengers from Inverness to Edinburgh careered down an embankment on the A9, north of Aviemore, on Sunday, resulting in two people being taken to hospital.
Emergency Response and Road Closure
The incident occurred near the Granish Junction at approximately 09:40 BST, triggering a substantial response from Police Scotland, fire crews, and ambulance services. Emergency personnel were pictured at the scene, attending to the large turquoise vehicle which came to rest part-way down a grassy slope beside the carriageway. The A9, a primary arterial route in the Highlands, was subsequently closed for around two hours while emergency operations were underway, causing temporary disruption before it was reopened to traffic.
Police Scotland confirmed that two occupants of the bus were transported to hospital for treatment, although no specific details regarding the nature or severity of their injuries have been released.

Ember, the operator of the electric bus service, acknowledged the involvement of one of its vehicles in a single-vehicle collision. A spokesperson for the company expressed gratitude to the emergency services for their swift support and affirmed their full cooperation with the ongoing police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
