Two Runners, Both 25, Collapse and Die During Great North Run Event

Two individuals, both aged 25, have died after collapsing whilst participating in the Great North Run on Sunday. The Great Run Company, organisers of the event, confirmed the fatalities.

The first runner, identified as a man from the Newcastle area, received immediate medical attention at the scene before being transported to the Royal Victoria Infirmary. He died shortly after arrival.

The second runner, also a 25-year-old man, collapsed later during the race. He too received prompt medical assistance and was taken to South Tyneside Hospital, where he subsequently died.

Organisers issued a statement expressing their condolences to the families and friends of the deceased. Further details regarding the circumstances of their deaths have not been released.
