
Woman Dies in Fatal Dog Attack in Leaden Roding, Man Arrested
Essex Police were called to Long Hide in Leaden Roding, near Dunmow, at approximately 22:45 BST on Friday after reports of a serious incident. Officers discovered a 19-year-old woman, now locally named as Jamie-Lea Biscoe, with critical injuries. Despite the immediate efforts of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 37-year-old man from Dunmow has been arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury resulting in death. The dog involved in the attack has been seized by specialist officers, who have also ensured the safety of the scene. A police cordon remained in place at the property on Sunday.
Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper of Essex Police expressed his condolences, stating, "My thoughts, and those of us all at Essex Police, are with the loved ones of the woman who died yesterday." He confirmed that experienced detectives are leading the investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances of this tragic event.
Authorities are appealing for anyone with relevant information, including CCTV, dashcam footage, or any other material, to come forward and assist with their enquiries. Witnesses are asked to quote incident 1419 of 10 April when contacting the police.
