16-Year-Old Girl Dies in North London Road Collision, Driver Arrested

A 16-year-old girl has been killed in a collision near a school in north London. Emergency services were called to the scene on the A1000 High Road in Whetstone, Barnet, following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car. The incident occurred at approximately 08:00 BST.

Metropolitan Police officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics attended, but the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a 68-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He remains in police custody. The Metropolitan Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
