Anthropic Addresses Claude Code Usage Limit Concerns
Anthropic, the developer behind the popular AI coding assistant Claude Code, has acknowledged and is actively working to resolve an issue where users are experiencing unexpectedly rapid consumption of their allocated usage tokens. This has led to frustration among subscribers, with many reporting their daily or monthly allowances being depleted in unusually short periods.
The company announced on Reddit that rectifying this issue is a "top priority." Users have voiced concerns that the opaque nature of token consumption rates, coupled with recent peak-hour throttling measures, is exacerbating the problem. Several users highlighted discrepancies between free and paid accounts, with some paid subscribers reporting faster depletion of tokens.
One user commented on Reddit, "A simple one sentence reply to a conversation just took me from 59% usage to 100%. How??" These incidents underscore the significant impact on software developers who rely on Claude Code as an integral part of their daily tasks.
This development follows a recent accidental release of part of Claude Code's internal source code via GitHub, attributed to "human error" rather than a security breach. Anthropic assured that no sensitive customer data was exposed during that incident.
