
Caerphilly Homes Destroyed by Major Fire, Residents Evacuated
Five properties have been destroyed in Nelson, Caerphilly county, following a substantial fire. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed attendance at the scene on Tuesday, with 10 appliances deployed to tackle the inferno.
The fire originated in a garage on West Street before rapidly spreading to neighbouring residential properties. Emergency crews battled the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the homes involved.
Local residents were evacuated from their properties as a precautionary measure, with the community centre in Nelson being designated as a temporary refuge. Authorities advised the public to avoid the area while emergency operations were underway.
One individual received medical attention for smoke inhalation at the scene, though no further serious injuries have been reported. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
