
Counter Terrorism Police Arrest Man in Ann Widdecombe Murder Inquiry on Terrorism Suspicion
Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) has assumed primacy in the investigation into the murder of Ann Widdecombe. The 52-year-old man previously arrested on suspicion of murder has now been re-arrested under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000. This second arrest relates to the suspected commission, preparation, or instigation of acts of terrorism.
Ms Widdecombe, aged 60, was discovered deceased at an address in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, on Friday, 20th September. Following a post-mortem examination, Thames Valley Police launched a murder inquiry, leading to the initial arrest of the man now held on terrorism charges.
The suspect remains in police custody, with counter-terrorism officers conducting further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding Ms Widdecombe's death and the potential terrorism link.
