Drug Dealer Jailed After 'Turkey Teeth' Photo Links Him to Supply Chain
A drug dealer has been handed a four-year custodial sentence after inadvertently providing crucial evidence of his illicit activities by sending a photograph of his new 'Turkey teeth' to an associate.
Crucial Digital Evidence
Coran Davies, 23, of Porth, Rhondda Cynon Taf, transmitted the image from a dentist's chair in Turkey. Unbeknownst to him, the recipient's mobile phone had been seized by authorities as part of a separate police investigation. The accompanying messages, detailing the supply of cocaine and cannabis, were subsequently uncovered by officers during their analysis of the device.
Facial recognition technology was utilised to identify Davies, leading to his arrest in March. He was apprehended in Tonypandy whilst driving, with passenger Dale Howell, 25, also from Porth, present in the vehicle. Officers discovered both drugs and substantial amounts of cash in their possession.
Guilty Pleas and Sentencing
Both individuals entered guilty pleas to a range of offences at Merthyr Crown Court. Davies admitted to the supply of cannabis, driving without insurance or a licence, possessing criminal property, and intent to supply cocaine. Howell pleaded guilty to possessing criminal property and intent to supply cocaine.
Davies received a 48-month prison sentence, whilst Howell was jailed for 36 months for his involvement in the drug supply operation. This case underscores the increasing role of digital forensics in tackling organised crime across the UK.
