Dutch Police Arrest Four Men in Suspected Drugging and Sexual Assault Investigation
Four men have been arrested by Dutch police in connection with a major investigation into the suspected drugging and sexual assaults of an unspecified number of women. The arrests, made in late May, followed raids on the homes of eight suspects aged between 21 and 51, identified through private online groups.
The national police force confirmed that information received from agencies in England and Germany suggested multiple women may have been drugged “by someone in their immediate circle” and sexually assaulted on camera. These online groups reportedly facilitated the sharing of advice on how to drug victims and circulated images of the abuse.
Detectives are currently analysing computers, USB sticks, SD cards, and mobile phones seized during the raids. Drugs and weapons were also discovered at some of the locations. The charges against the arrested individuals include alleged participation in the online groups, the creation or distribution of sexual imagery, and “endangering victims by drugging them, up to and including (attempted) rape”.
Milou van der Kolk of the Rotterdam sexual crimes team stated that the full extent of the victim count remains unclear, noting the profound impact such events have on individuals who may have been unconscious during the assaults. Further arrests have not been ruled out.
