Hollie Ridley to Vacate Labour General Secretary Role Post-Party Conference
Hollie Ridley, the Labour Party's General Secretary, has announced her intention to resign from the role after the forthcoming party conference. Ridley's departure marks a significant change at the top of the party's organisational structure, following a period of substantial electoral success.
Ridley's tenure as General Secretary is widely recognised for her strategic oversight of the party's ground campaign, a critical component in Labour's landslide win in the 2024 general election. Her experience in national and local campaigns dates back to the 2017 general election, where she played a central part in the party's campaign efforts.
Prior to her appointment as General Secretary, Ridley held the position of Executive Director for Campaigns, overseeing the operational aspects of Labour's electoral machinery. Her political career began as a researcher for a Labour Member of Parliament, progressing through various roles within the party apparatus, including Head of Local Government.
