Irish Government Prepares Bulletproof Van for Daniel Kinahan Extradition from Dubai
The Irish Government has purchased a specialised bulletproof and bomb-proof van, valued at approximately €500,000, to facilitate the high-security transport of suspected crime boss Daniel Kinahan following his expected extradition from Dubai. The vehicle is intended for use in moving Kinahan, 49, from an Irish airfield to a courthouse.
Kinahan is sought in connection with various criminal activities in Ireland. Separately, US authorities have offered a reward of $5 million for information leading to his arrest and conviction, underscoring the international scope of the allegations against him. The US Treasury Department previously imposed sanctions on Kinahan and several associates in 2022, freezing their assets and effectively targeting the Kinahan Organised Crime Group.
This extradition effort follows a protracted period during which Kinahan has resided in Dubai. The acquisition of such a highly fortified transport vehicle highlights the perceived security risks associated with his return and potential court appearances, reflecting the gravity with which Irish authorities view the situation.
