John Pye, Co-Founder of Nottinghams Auction House, Dies Aged 84
John Pye, co-founder of the expansive John Pye Auctions, has died aged 84. The Nottingham-based firm, which he established with his father, John snr, in 1968, announced his passing, noting he will be "sorely missed by all who knew him".
Originating from a single Nottingham saleroom, Pye’s vision expanded the company into one of the largest auction houses in the UK. The business now operates from 22 sites nationwide, conducting over 1,000 auctions annually.
A company statement highlighted Pye’s dedication: "John lived a fantastic life full of laughter and hard work, and was dedicated to his family, friends and business."
His funeral is scheduled for 10:30 BST on 20 June at St Mary's Church, Plumtree. The family has requested donations to the John Van Geest Cancer Research Centre at Nottingham Trent University, rather than flowers.
