Musa Ahmed, 10, Suffered Fatal Brain Injury in Bournemouth Beach Drowning
A ten-year-old boy, Musa Ahmed, suffered a fatal brain injury and drowning after being recovered from the sea at Bournemouth beach, a pre-inquest review was told. The incident, which occurred in May, also claimed the lives of Musa's eight-year-old cousin, Hira Ahmed, and her mother, Razia Ahmed, aged 34.
Police have previously confirmed that a pleasure boat, the Dorset Belle, was in the area at the time of the incident, but stated there was no direct contact between the vessel and the swimmers. Two individuals were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the deaths, but have since been released under investigation. Their bail is set to expire in November.
The Coroner's office confirmed that the full inquest into the three deaths will be held as a single hearing in January. A post-mortem examination determined Musa's cause of death as a brain injury and drowning. Hira's cause of death was confirmed as drowning, while Razia Ahmed also died from drowning.
