XL Bully Dog Owner Testifies Animal Was Not Dangerous After Fatal Bite in Leigh

Chanel Fong, 28, told Bolton Crown Court that her XL Bully, named Cookie, was not inherently dangerous, despite the dog being involved in an incident that led to the death of Keven Jones, 62.

Mr Jones, the father of Fong's partner, died from haemorrhage and 'shock' after sustaining severe bite injuries to his leg. The incident occurred at a property on Leigh Road, Leigh, Greater Manchester, on 27 February 2022.

Fong stated that Cookie had never bitten anyone before and had been around numerous people and other dogs without incident. She described the dog as having a playful nature and being affectionate towards children, including her own two children.

The prosecution alleges that Fong was aware of Cookie's dangerous characteristics, citing previous incidents where the dog reportedly bit people, including Fong's mother. Fong denies two counts of owning a dog dangerously out of control, causing injury resulting in death.
