£50 Million Government Funding Allocated for Cairngorms Fire Restoration and Scottish Wildlife
New government funding totalling £50 million has been earmarked for various environmental initiatives across Scotland, with a particular focus on rehabilitating areas devastated by the recent Cairngorms wildfire.
The significant investment is intended to facilitate the restoration of critical habitats and endangered species impacted by the blaze. Beyond wildfire recovery, the funding will also bolster ongoing efforts in river restoration projects and strengthen programmes designed to control invasive non-native species, which pose a persistent threat to native biodiversity.
Furthermore, a portion of the allocation is designated for deer management initiatives throughout Scotland. This aims to maintain ecological balance and mitigate the environmental impact of overpopulation in certain regions.
