Russian Drone Strikes Kyiv Security Headquarters; Zelensky Reports Direct Hit
A Russian drone has directly struck the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) headquarters in Kyiv, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky. The unmanned aerial vehicle impacted without prior warning in the centre of the Ukrainian capital.
The attack on the SBU building represents a clear escalation in Russia's campaign of aerial bombardments, which have consistently targeted infrastructure and urban areas across Ukraine since the full-scale invasion commenced.
Ukrainian officials stated that air defences intercepted numerous drones during the overnight assault, but the SBU facility sustained a direct hit. Kyiv's military administration reported that all incoming drones had been successfully shot down, a claim that appears to contradict President Zelensky's statement regarding the SBU building.
The strike underscores the persistent vulnerability of Ukrainian urban centres to Russian drone and missile attacks, despite Western military assistance.
