Seven Die as Drone Strikes Passenger Bus in Russia-Occupied Donetsk Region
Seven individuals have been killed and eleven others wounded following a drone strike on a passenger bus in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, currently under Russian control. Denis Pushilin, the Kremlin-installed leader of the region, stated the attack occurred early on Wednesday as the bus travelled between Moscow and Simferopol, in Russian-occupied Crimea.
Russian officials claimed over 350 drones were intercepted overnight, with at least 50 downed over the Leningrad region, which encompasses St Petersburg. This city is set to host the annual International Economic Forum from Wednesday, an event intended to project Russian influence on the global stage. Delegations from more than 130 countries and territories, including Chinese Vice-President Han Zheng and the presidents of Uzbekistan and Tanzania, are expected to attend.
This drone strike follows a significant Russian assault on Ukrainian cities a day prior, which resulted in the deaths of at least 22 people, including women and children.
