Six People Stabbed, 24 Arrested at Arsenal Premier League Victory Parade in North London
Metropolitan Police reported six stabbings and 24 arrests following Arsenal’s Premier League victory parade in North London. Most of those injured did not sustain life-threatening wounds, though a man in his twenties was hospitalised in a critical but stable condition after an attack on Hornsey Road on Sunday evening.
Over 500 officers were deployed for the event, which drew hundreds of thousands of supporters. During the celebrations, one officer suffered a slash wound to the hand, and another was hit on the head by thrown objects. Four police vans in Therberton Street, Islington, incurred dents and broken lights.
Arrests included ten individuals suspected of assaulting police officers, three for alleged sexual assault, and one for grievous bodily harm linked to a head injury. The London Fire Brigade also rescued 75 fans who had climbed onto rooftops, advising against such dangerous behaviour.
Commander Stuart Bell, who oversaw the police operation, stated that while the majority of fans celebrated responsibly, there were instances of anti-social behaviour and violence, including gang-related incidents later in the evening. Officers were granted additional stop and search powers overnight, and investigations into the stabbings are ongoing.
