Teenage Entrepreneur Develops New App for Streamlined Farm Business Management
A 17-year-old, Huw Thomas, has introduced an innovative app intended to simplify farm operations and administrative duties. The app consolidates various functions, including livestock management, machinery maintenance, and financial tracking, into a single digital platform. Thomas, who resides on a working farm in Mid Wales, developed the technology after observing the considerable time demands placed upon farming families, often at the expense of personal life.
The application aims to provide farmers with a comprehensive, easily accessible system for record-keeping and task management, moving away from fragmented, paper-based methods. This centralisation is projected to save significant time, allowing farmers to dedicate more hours to family life or other aspects of their business. Thomas stated the primary motivation behind the project was to create a tool that genuinely improved the quality of life for those in agriculture.
His initiative has garnered interest within the agricultural technology sector, highlighting a growing trend towards digitisation in farming. The app’s development underscores the potential for younger generations to introduce practical, tech-driven solutions to long-standing industry challenges, particularly in sectors where traditional practices often prevail.
