Tupac Shakur Murder Accused Duane Davis Claimed Nephew Fired Fatal Shots in 2008 Police Interview
Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis, who is facing charges in connection with the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, informed police in a 2008 interview that his nephew, Orlando ‘Baby Lane’ Anderson, was the individual who fired the shots that killed Shakur. This assertion, recorded during an interview with federal and local detectives, was presented to the grand jury.
Davis, a former gang leader, also stated that he was present in the vehicle from which the shots were fired. He identified Anderson, who had a long-standing rivalry with Shakur, as the shooter. Anderson was killed in a separate gang-related shooting in 1998 and always denied involvement in Shakur's death.
The prosecution alleges that Davis's repeated admissions, including in a 2019 memoir, provide sufficient grounds for the charges. Davis, now 60, has pleaded not guilty to murder with a deadly weapon.
