Ukraine Strikes Novorossiysk, Killing Four, Russia Attacks Moldova Border

A recent Russian missile barrage near Moldova's border has left two people dead, according to Ukrainian authorities. This incident follows a Ukrainian drone attack on the Black Sea port city of Novorossiysk in southern Russia, which resulted in four deaths, including a child. The Russian Defence Ministry confirmed the downing of multiple Ukrainian drones over the Krasnodar region, where Novorossiysk is located, and over the Black Sea.

Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office reported that the Russian strike utilised Kh-59 guided missiles, targeting the Odesa region. One of these missiles reportedly impacted a residential area near the Moldovan border, claiming two lives. Furthermore, Ukrainian officials stated that Russian forces also launched Shahed-131/136 drones, with air defences intercepting some, though others caused damage and casualties.

These exchanges of fire underscore the ongoing military friction, with civilian casualties a persistent consequence. Russia's strategic interests in the Black Sea and its proximity to client states like Moldova remain central to the wider geopolitical landscape, often obscured by rhetoric of 'stability' and 'security'.
