US Rapper Lil Durk Acquitted in Fatal Atlanta Shooting Trial
US rapper Lil Durk, real name Durk Banks, has been acquitted of all charges stemming from a 2024 shooting incident in Atlanta, Georgia. Prosecutors had accused the Grammy-winning artist of involvement in a 'murder-for-hire' plot that led to the death of Rasul McNeal, a cousin of rival rapper Quando Rondo.
During proceedings at the Fulton County Superior Court, prosecutors alleged that Banks and co-defendant Kenneth "Sexyy Redd" Williams were part of a scheme to kill McNeal. However, the prosecution's case faltered, with Judge Ural Glanville ultimately dismissing the charges after concluding that insufficient evidence had been presented to demonstrate such a plot.
The shooting, which occurred outside an Atlanta recording studio, had been a focal point of intense media scrutiny. The defence successfully argued that the state failed to connect Banks directly to any conspiracy or the fatal shooting itself, leading to the acquittal.
