Welsh Aviation Components Firm AerFin Acquired for £475 Million by Danish Investor
St Mellons-based AerFin, a specialist in aircraft and engine component supply, has been acquired by Danish investment firm Navigare Capital Partners in a deal valued at £475 million. The transaction sees Navigare take full ownership of the Welsh firm, which was previously majority-owned by Phoenix Equity Partners.
AerFin’s business model centres on acquiring aircraft and engines, disassembling them, and then selling or leasing the individual components. The company also offers technical solutions, including engine storage, globally.
Christian Lindgren, co-founder of Navigare Capital Partners, stated the acquisition aligns with their strategy of investing in 'critical aviation infrastructure'. He noted AerFin's robust position within the sustainable aviation sector due to its focus on component re-use and recycling. Simon Bayliss, AerFin’s Chief Executive, highlighted the acquisition as the beginning of a 'new chapter' for the company, expressing confidence in Navigare’s support for AerFin's future growth and market leadership in circular economy solutions for aviation.
AerFin employs approximately 100 staff across its operations in Wales, the UK, and Singapore. The company recently announced plans to establish a new engine workshop at its South Wales headquarters.
