Wiltshire Ambulance Worker Rearrested Over Further Neglect Charges After Six Deaths
A 35-year-old former ambulance worker from west Wiltshire has been rearrested on suspicion of two further counts of wilful neglect by a care worker. This follows his initial arrest in September concerning the deaths of six adults.
The man was previously taken into custody on suspicion of six counts of gross negligence manslaughter and four counts of ill-treatment or wilful neglect by a care worker. He remains released on conditional bail for these earlier charges.
A 60-year-old woman, also formerly employed by the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT), remains on conditional bail in connection with the same inquiry. Both individuals were suspended immediately upon the concerns being raised and are no longer employed by the trust.
Operation Willow, a significant police investigation, commenced in 2023 after Wiltshire Police received concerns regarding the deaths of several adults within a healthcare setting in the Wiltshire area. SWASFT stated it launched an internal investigation and made a prompt police referral, continuing to co-operate with the ongoing inquiry. The trust affirmed there is no current risk to patients.
