Australian Police Release Unseen Images Twenty-Five Years After Peter Falconio Murder
Northern Territory Police have circulated a series of twenty-two unseen images relating to the murder of British tourist Peter Falconio in July 2001. The release marks a quarter-century since Falconio, then 28, was murdered on a remote stretch of the Stuart Highway near Barrow Creek.
Bradley John Murdoch was convicted of Falconio's murder in 2005. Despite the conviction, Falconio's body has never been recovered.
New Appeal for Information on Falconio Disappearance
Among the newly publicised images is a photograph of a distinctive orange and white 1970s Kombi campervan. Investigators believe the vehicle may have been sighted in the area at the time of the incident or could be connected to individuals who possessed crucial information.
Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Day stated the police hope the images will 'jog the memories' of those who may have been reluctant to come forward previously. The renewed appeal follows sustained efforts by Falconio's parents, who have consistently sought the return of their son's remains.
The force has urged anyone with information, however minor, to contact them directly, particularly regarding the campervan or any unusual activity around the Barrow Creek region in 2001.
