City of London Police Arrest Two Officers in Police Federation Fraud Probe
Two serving police officers are among four individuals arrested in Surrey by the City of London Police, who are investigating alleged fraud within the Police Federation. The arrests occurred at an address in Surrey, and those taken into custody are a 51-year-old man, a 43-year-old woman, a 48-year-old man, and a 38-year-old man. All four were arrested on suspicion of fraud by abuse of position, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit fraud. They have since been released under investigation.
This latest development increases the number of people arrested in the inquiry to eight. Three men and one woman were previously arrested in January in connection with the same investigation. The Police Federation of England and Wales, which represents over 130,000 officers, confirmed that two of their members had been suspended following the arrests. The Federation stated it is cooperating fully with the City of London Police investigation.
The Police Federation has faced scrutiny regarding its financial practices and governance in recent years. This ongoing investigation highlights persistent concerns about accountability within institutions tasked with upholding public trust.
