Inquest Opens into Death of Professor Jason Arday, Aged 38, in London

An inquest has formally opened into the death of Professor Jason Arday, the University of Cambridge academic, who passed away at the age of 38. The brief hearing at St Pancras Coroner's Court in London was informed that Dr Julian Morris has expressed 'reason to suspect that Professor Arday died an unnatural death', necessitating a full investigation.

Professor Arday, known for his pioneering work and for being one of the youngest Black professors in the United Kingdom, died on 10 February 2024. The precise circumstances surrounding his death were not detailed during the initial proceedings.

Assistant Coroner Dr Morris has scheduled a pre-inquest review for 27 January 2025. This will allow for further evidence to be gathered and a more comprehensive understanding of the situation to be established.
