Dalston Soda Pineapple Cans Recalled Over Unexpected Rupture Risk
High-end fizzy drink producer Dalston Soda Company has recalled certain pineapple soda cans and four-can multipacks, citing a packaging defect that could cause them to rupture unexpectedly. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a warning on Friday, stating that the defect could lead to cans breaking apart and creating sharp edges, posing a risk of injury to consumers.
Customers in possession of the affected products are advised not to consume them. Instead, they should handle the cans minimally, place them upright in a sealed bag, and dispose of them with household waste. The company has explicitly requested that consumers do not return the cans to retailers. A full refund is available by contacting Dalston Soda Company directly, with no receipt required.
The recall pertains to cans with a best before date of 4 August 2027. Single cans carry batch code 037130, while multipacks are identified by batch code 037129. The company has confirmed that no other Dalston's products are affected by this issue.
This incident follows previous recalls within the carbonated beverage sector. In 2023, Jeremy Clarkson's Hawkstone cider bottles were recalled due to a potential for explosion, and in 2024, Brew York recalled its Juice Forsyth IPA cans over similar concerns regarding unexpected ruptures and potential injury.
