James Bulger's Grave Vandalised Again in Liverpool
The grave of James Bulger, the toddler brutally murdered in 1993, has been vandalised for the second time in just six weeks. Police are investigating after two cherub statue heads were cut from the headstone at Kirkdale Cemetery in Liverpool.
Family's Devastation
Katie McCreath, representing James's mother Denise Fergus, expressed profound sadness and anger over the incident. "This marks the second incident of its kind, and it is both distressing and unacceptable. Denise is understandably devastated," Ms McCreath stated. The previous act of vandalism in February saw the same statues smashed, prompting a public appeal that raised over £23,000 for repairs. The family had previously conveyed their deep appreciation for the public's generosity.
The Unspeakable Crime
James Bulger was just two years old when he was abducted from a Bootle shopping centre in February 1993 by ten-year-olds Jon Venables and Robert Thompson. He was subsequently tortured and murdered, a crime that shocked the nation and continues to resonate deeply within British society. Merseyside Police have been approached for comment regarding this latest act of desecration.
