Queen Camilla Presents Commendation Medal to Seven-Year-Old Rupert Williams at Clarence House Tea Party
Queen Camilla recently hosted a tea party at Clarence House for six children supported by the Welsh charity Dreams And Wishes. During the event, seven-year-old Rupert Williams, who lives with gastrointestinal failure and haemophilia A, received a Chief Scout's Commendation for Meritorious Conduct medal directly from Her Majesty.
Rupert, from Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, had brought the medal with him, having previously earned it for his dedication to the Scouts despite his severe illness. His mother, Hannah Williams, noted that Rupert had asked her beforehand if the Queen "had a dragon in her castle."
The event, designed to create cherished memories for the children and their families, featured a treasure hunt led by the Queen, followed by tea with an array of carefully arranged treats. Rupert, beaming with pride, even raised a toast to the Queen with a glass of water after she pinned the medal to his waistcoat.
Dreams And Wishes chairman Tony Curtis highlighted the Queen's ongoing engagement with the charity, noting her consistent support since its inception in 2011. The afternoon concluded with the children receiving goodie bags, including teddy bears dressed as guards and large chocolate coins, following a horse-drawn carriage ride down The Mall.
